On this past Sunday, July 19th, I made 20 years in business. Whew, it’s been a ride!! I remember my first clients, Lakeisha and Gary. They gave me a chance!! I remember wanting to quit my government job, and Amar told me “the hell you are.” He said, “You gotta show me you can save 40k before you quit and then do you. So I saved that 40k… and was scared as hell to quit my job. But I did it. We had 2 small kids at home, and this had always been my passion. I was going to succeed no matter what. Y’all, let me tell you how that actually went down. I called Amar one day while I was at my desk and said, “I can’t do this anymore, I wanna do my real estate full time. I wanted to see what he would say. I told him I was about to quit. Next thing I know, Amar had left work and told me to come downstairs. I was like oh shit 🤣🤣. He cursed me out so bad, but with love. (He’s the numbers guy, great with money. I’m the spender 😅.) He told me if I wanted to quit so bad, save 40k and then I could quit. I quit and maybe two month later everything crazy happened. I got fired from a crazy seller, deals fell through, everything happened, and I went through that 40k quickly. But I was determined to keep going no matter what, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for 20 years! Still moving through the good and the bad, and there have been PLENTY of bad days. Yes, you see me closing, but you have no idea what goes on behind the scenes and how hard I fight and fight and even then, sometimes it still doesn’t work out. And I’m proud of myself for never giving up! It’s been a long road, and I’m thankful for it ALL!! And to think, I’m still not where I want to be, but I’m thankful for how far I’ve come. Thank you, God!!! For the past two decades, I’ve had the honor of helping families buy, sell, invest, and build wealth across Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Ms. Greene was very personable and knowledgeable about the housing market. 2020 was a year no one could have foreseen. In any event, Ms. Greene and I consulted on what I was looking for. After looking at previously owned homes and new construction, I decided that the latter is what I wanted. With the rates being at an all time low which prompted bidding wars, it made sense that I go the new construction route.
